I AM STILL A MOTHER (SPECIAL FEATURE)

Why is it that when we see a person with a disability, we often assume they cannot be a parent?
Or, to put the question differently — why do we rarely think of women with disabilities as women who can become mothers?
According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, more than one hundred thousand people in Kenya were recorded as living with various forms of disability, with women accounting for 57 percent of this population.
But behind these statistics are women with dreams, emotions and the desire to become mothers — a dream that, for some, has turned into a journey of pain, discrimination and disappointment.
Our reporter Nancy Mweu takes us through a special feature titled — I Am Still a Mother.
